Access to information should be a human right

Anigu/Amigos /Friends,

My attention was caught by this phrase from a brochure I found on the streets of Labuga from a foundation by the name of FUNDESA (Fundación para el Desarollo de Guatemala/Foundation for the Development of Guatemala): “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”- Nelson Mandela, and continues by saying that 98% of public schools in Guatemala have NO access to technology.

I recently became elected President of a Parents' Committee here in Livingston, Izabal, Guatemala for a junior high school that has a population of more than three hundred students with no access to technology.

We are hoping to find a solution for this particular situation. We completely agree that in an era where technology is an essential condition for development, its access can no longer be a privilege; it has to become a Human Right.

We would like to extend to you our appreciation in advance.

President, Livingston Parents' Committee
Tomas Sanchez
