Trouble Makers

Sat. 11/4/15- It is 6:04 in the morning; and we are beginning day seven, at this moment we are thinking about a question that was asked to the Garifuna People of Guatemala five years ago.

First and Foremost we humble ourselves by giving Thanks and Praises for the intervention of the Most High and the Spirits of Our Ancestors. Here we are today five years later since this particular question was asked. What is the priority of the Garifuna People of Guatemala? This question was asked by a delegation of the United Nation in March 2010, at the head quarters of ONEGUA in Labuga. The meeting we participated in on April 9th 2015 was again with Programa Maya at Beluba Luba Furendei in Labuga.

We became concerned, in this case, I am saying WE because I am not alone, and there is no way I can do something like this without conviction. So far a blog exists today that was born from this same question.  Garifuna Reality for the past five years has been the window to my soul. There are so many people around the world to whom we will forever be grateful.

We became concerned; because five years later, the question still prevails. In this case, we hope to explore the aspects of our Spirituality to look for solutions. During the next 33 days we hope to draw your attention with this particular question:

"What is our priority as the Garifuna people of Guatemala?"

Sun. 12/4/15- It is 7:16 in the morning and just got through reading the first chapter of Long Walk to Freedom, the autobiography of Nelson Mandela for the third time, the first time was July 10th 2010. It was revealed to us to read about the life and journey of Nelson Mandela for the third time; in this case you and I are joining a voyage in the making. This might be a voyage that can transcend the next 218 years.

It has been 218 years of presence on the coasts of Central America and the time is now. Now is the time to build relationships with the “Spirits of Trouble Makers”. According to our understanding one becomes a “Trouble Maker” when you stand up for the rights of your people.

In this case, people like Marcos Sanchez Diaz, Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, Madiba, and Marcos Garvey plus other Spirits that are “Trouble Makers” will join our struggle as a People. They were not on board 218 years ago, be that as it may, this much we will say, they are now on board and they are here to stay.
